Have you ever
feel so boring with your daily activities? Wake up early morning and go home
after the sun goes down. I’m going crazy if I just do it everyday. I need
escape, I need to back to nature. That’s why I decided to escape at Kampung Cai
Ranca Upas. Why it has to be Ranca Upas? Well, Google said Ranca Upas has
magnificent scenery, especially the sunrise. As a sunrise hunter, I think it is
a good choice. Moreover, there are many open trips to Ranca Upas in one day
(short trip) with affordable price and doesn’t need much effort like hiking.
This time, I join Weha Explorer (WH). Just pay Rp 150.000, everything that I
need has arranged by WH and you can enjoy the beauty of sunrise at Ranca Upas.
My team on this trip are Tifa, Arwan, and Agis.

Kampung Cai Ranca Upas
Kampung Cai
Ranca Upas or well known as Ranca Upas, a camping ground located at Ciwidey,
South Bandung, West Java. Around 50 km from Bandung. Ranca Upas is a vast flat
grassland. Not only camping site, but you can also visit the deer captivity and
interact directly with those benign deers. In Sundanese word, Ranca means
swamp, while Upas means to guard or ranger. The Myth says that the area (we
know it as Ranca Upas) used to be guarded by a Dutch ranger who is so devoted
to his job. Unfortunately, he died when doing his job. Until now, locals
sometimes can see him around this area.
The Journey
was started from Daytrans Jatiwaringin as meeting point. Around 10 pm, we
departed to Bandung by Weha Bus (WH is a subsidiary of White Horse or Weha
Transportation Indonesia, a private company provides transportation services
like bus and car rental). We arrived at Ranca Upas around 3 am. The temperature
was so low, 120 C. Luckily, I have prepared a jacket and the gloves. While
waiting for Subuh, we enjoying hot instant noodle and hot tea in one of the
stall. What a perfect food at the right time. So tasty!

After Subuh,
we walked to camping area, looked for the sunrise. But, the sunrise looked so
red and obscured by the fog. Finally, around 6 am the fog disappear slowly and
we could see the sunlight. What a great moment! The sunrise was beautiful
(especially in camera) and the fog made it perfect.

Deer Captivity
Satisfy with
the sunrise, we continued to the deer captivity. We bought a bundle of carrot
at Rp 10.000. These carrots used to feed the deers. Don’t be panic if the deers
come to you, they just want your carrot, not to disturb you. For the first
time, I was panic. But, I enjoyed it then. It was a fun activity and I like it.

D’riam River Side
The blazing
sun is a sign for us to go back to Jakarta. We departed to Jakarta around 11
am. On the way to Jakarta, we stopped at D’riam River Side to had lunch. This
place has many spots instagrammable. The famous spot is ”Bamboo Bridge”. There
is a photographer at this spot. If you want to take the result in softcopy, you
have to pay Rp 10.000 for each photo. They don’t provide the hardcopy.

The time was
2 pm. We had to finish this trip and went back to Jakarta. On the way to
Jakarta, we just slept because we felt so tired (we didn’t sleep well last
night). We arrived in Jakarta around 9 pm.
I think, this trip not only gives me contents
for my social media. Feeding and interacting with the deers directly is the
most exciting activity especially for the family. Camping area with delightful
sunrise also gave me the energy to face my real life. Welcome, Monday! Don’t forget to be grateful and happy!
