Papandayan Mount
Papandayan is an active mount in Garut, West Java. It is 2.665 above sea level. It is easy for the beginner to hike this mountain. But, never underestimate the view there. Papandayan has great scenery! This is my story when I visited this famous mount.

On The Way to Primajasa Cililitan Bus Terminal

Exactly 16.30 WIB I immediately went to Cicurug Station by hitchhiked my friend, Billy. At the first, I thought to walk from my office until the roadway, then continue my trip to station by public transportation "angkot” ungu with Cibadak destination. Fortunately, I didn’t do it because the Pangrango, train to Bogor which was I rode departed at 17.52 WIB. Alhamdulillah, besides could save my money (around Rp 10.000 for ojek, or Rp 5.000 for angkot), I could go there on time. The train ticket from Cicurug to Bogor was Rp 17.500.

I arrived at Bogor Paledang Station around 18.00 WIB. Remembering that my worm in my stomach didn’t eat yet,  I decided to had early dinner at KFC Bogor, near the station. After that, I continued my trip to Duren Kalibata Station by KRL. Bogor KRL station is located near the Bogor Paledang Station. I paid Rp 5.000 for KRL Bogor – Duren Kalibata. I suggest you to use e-money because it makes your trip easier and keeps your time from long queue at the ticket locket.

I arrived at Duren Kalibata Station around 18.30, then I continued my journey to Cililitan Terminal by gojek (online ojek / motorcycle taxi). I ordered route from Duren Kalibata Station to Cililitan Terminal. Unfortunately, I ordered wrong route. Fortunately, Mr. gojek asked me my final destination. I said, “I wanna go to Garut by bus”. My destination should be Primajasa Bus Terminal, not Cililitan. Cililitan is a busway pool. Alhamdulillah, Mr gojek is a nice man, he brought me to Primajasa Terminal although it passed my ordered destination.

I was the first member of my hiking team who arrived at terminal. Two of my colleagues, Hana and Mas Ganjar were being had dinner (we are Ciracas batch, because our office is located at Ciracas). Meanwhile, the other batch, (we call it Periuk batch because their office is located at Periuk). Periuk team arrived, I joint with them. They were Frengky, Bondan, Imam, Arif, and Bang Ucok. Frengky and Bondan were Hana’s college friends. They are friendly. But, I still awkward with them. Moreover, all of them are boy. Anyway, I didn’t tell my mom that only me and Hana were girl in this hiking team. If she know, I would die! Hahahaha. Finally, Ciracas team came. Okee, we could start our journey to Garut. We arrived at Guntur Terminal, Garut around 5 am. Alhamdulillah. Oh ya, the bus ticket to Garut was Rp 52.000/person.

From Guntur Terminal, we went to Cisurupan market by Elf (L300). Can you imagine, the ELF capacity I think for 10 passengers, was filled by around 15 passengers. Fortunately, Garut was cool enough, so the Elf not too stuffy. Then, we used pick up (we call it losbak) to Camp David Papandayan. In the beginning, our team contains of 8 members. But, there were new members, Bagus and his girlfriend, Dede who were join to our team.

Welcoming gate for the hikers
We finally arrived at base camp. We registered and prayed Subuh before hiking. We hiked for around an hour more and arrived at Pondok Saladah. Pondok Saladah is the location to build the tent. On the way to Saladah, we passed the beautiful crater. Don’t forget to use gas mask. The sulfur smell was quite strong here.

Pondok Saladah has complete facilities. There are toilets, musola (free), and stalls. The highlight food there is Cilok* (aci dicolok)! Cool air and hot cilok was a perfect combination. Subhanallah.

We built our tents in Pondok Saladah. Don’t forget to register in registration post. You will get your tent number after you register. There were four tents that we built. This was my first time helped build the tent. After it, we cooked used nesting, portable stove. I was clumsy used it. I can’t cook although use modern stove, moreover use nesting. It was a great learning for me. Especially when I saw my friends (they are boys) could cook used nesting so easy (especially when they cooked the rice). How bad I am as a girl. Hiks hiks. Thanks to them! I got new learn, how to survive in the nature. Alhamdulillah….

Our tents near Edelweiss Field
Waiting for the night, we spent our leisure time by took the pictures. Never forget to take pictures when you explore your journey, because it will be your precious souvenir to take home. Not far from our tents, there is edelweiss field. In general, the girls will be main model for each picture. But, it will be different if you travel with my team. The boys will be the main actors of the pictures. Me and Hana just be the photographer and we couldn’t stop to laugh because of my friend's act. They make funny style. They were really cute. Hehehe. Alhamdulillah, I could meet unique people like them.

What did they do? 😂
The night came. After prayed Isya, Me and Hana gathered in Mas Ganjar, Bang Ucok, and Bondan tent. We were shared each other. Bang Ucok played a game. He tried to read our hand. When he looked my hand, he said that me, Mas Ganjar, and himself were the same human type. Our type is simian line. We just 1% of human population in this world. Hahaha. He also said, I will marry a rich man. Hahaha, I automatically laugh and said Aamiiin. It was a nice game I think. We could know each other. When the late night, we slept. I was in the same tent with Hana, Dede, and Imam. I catch a cold because of my position at the edge of the tent. The tent was wet because of dew seepage. I needed tolak angiiin. Hehehe.

Maybe because we ate together. Thanks boys for the breakfast, they are a great chef! After breakfast, we tidied up our tents and went home. On the way to went home, we would pass the dead forest, and of course take wefie there.
