Tauge Goreng Pak Abung |
Fried bean sprouts or tauge goreng in Indonesian, or toge tauco (geco) in Sundanese is one of traditional cuisine in Bogor, West Java. For the first time, I tried it at Tauge Goreng Pak Abung, on the way to Cicurug. It is located at Jl Raya Cihideung, Cijeruk, Bogor. It has delicious taste with affordable price (around Rp 6.000).
Tauge goreng made from bean sprouts, ketupat, tofu, and oncom sauce. Not like the name, fried bean sprouts (tauge goreng) actually isn't fried. It is stir fry with oncom sauce. FYI, oncom is fermented traditional food using the mold. You can take away tauge goreng and you will see the uniqueness of the packaging. It is packed by Patar leaves (phrynium capitatum). People in West Java usually pack their traditional food with these leaves. Patat leaves useful as antibacterial. So, it can keep the food last longer.
Not only delicious and affordable, tauge goreng also good for our health. Tauge goreng has high nutrient content. Bean sprouts have good nutrition to increase fertility, anti-aging, and good for our digestion. Oncom has high protein and ketupat contain of carbohydrate as energy source.
So, when you visit Bogor, don't forget to taste Tauge Goreng. It is delicious, health, and affordable!
