Merapi Volcano Eruptions 2010 : The Born of New Life

Located on the boarder of Central Java and Yogyakarta, Merapi (an active stratovolcano, 2.390 mdpl in 2010) has new life now. After eruption on 26 October 2010, Merapi leaves many memorable things. It killed 353 people included Mbah Marijan, the spiritual guardian of Mount Merapi.

I visited this mount by join lava tour Merapi. I paid Rp 400.000 for this tour package. These are the places I visited :

1. Museum Mini Sisa Hartaku ( My Remaining Treasure Museum)

The first place I visited is "Museum Mini Sisa Hartaku". Before eruption in 2010, this museum was one of inhabitant house, Watinem in Petung, Kepuharjo, Cangkringan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. After eruption, Sriyanto (Watinem's son) collected the remaining things from their house to memorize Merapi eruption. Now, it comes to be museum and people can visit it to see how terrible the eruption.

2. Alien Stone

Situated on Jambu, Kepungharjo, Cangkringan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Alien stone comes from word "Alihan" in Indonesia. The meaning is the change location. The stone was thrown up from the crater. If you see from the right side, the stone shape like human face. Actually, I couldn't see it because of too many visitors around the stone when I visited it.

3. Bunker Kaliadem

Bunker Kaliadem was built in Dutch colonialism era. The function is to protect people from " Wedhus Gembel ". But, when eruption in 2010, two volunteers died in this bunker. There is a story behind this bunker. People said, when the night comes, they will hear the sound of crying people from this bunker. It is frightful!

This tour makes me realize about the power of lord. Merapi eruption just a little warning for human to keep the nature and always believe in God. I'm so grateful visited this place. Alhamdulillah  .
