My family comes from Melayu-Chinese-Bugis. I didn't know about Javanese culture or its language. When the first time I came to Jogja, I found a new world. In Pontianak, I used to speak in Melayu, even some of my friends speak in Dayak or Chinese (not Mandarin). In Jogja, I had to learn Javanese language. The unique thing from Javanese term (especially Jogja) is the way of people to show the direction. They don't use turn right or left. But, north, south, west, or east. So you have to remember the cardinal directions. I remember that Merapi mountain is a sign of the north side (from UGM). So, it made me easy to determine the direction when I knew the location of Merapi mountain.
Jogja is a food paradise. It was easy for me to find delicious food at affordable price. I miss it so much.
Great and Affordable Events
Jogja has many universities. Many events were held by student organization. My favourite events are Economic Jazz (FEB UGM) & GMCO UGM
My Lovely Campus - UGM
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is one of reputable university in indonesia. Meanwhile, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UGM is the first faculty in Indonesia which is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). It has three departments. There are accounting, economics, and management. I graduated from accounting department.
It was homey to stayed and studied in Jogja. Someday, I'll be back to Jogjaa
